view from balcony of palms and ocean

Tangalle -

Tantalizing images

Of quiet, pristine beaches.

The journey there memorable.

Stops – at Galle,

Of the Venetian-like Fort

Waves glowing - Azure…

The surfer’s paradise of Weligama,

Waves sparkling – Turquoise…

The lighthouse in Dondra,

Standing at the Island’s edge.

Waves glistening – Aquamarine..

Our abode Nuga Eden,

With its spacious, sun-washed terrace,

Lending us beautiful vistas,

Of palms and pines.

And beyond-

Waves shimmering – Cerulean…

We walk to Redbeach restauarant,

Peaceful gardens, sublime food,

Langour dissolves, leaving only-

Bliss.

We walk to Tangalle beach.

Collect shells,

Wind threading through hair and eyes-

Bliss.

We walk to Tangalle town.

Tranquil, like an old friend.

Eat fragrant rice and curry-

Bliss.

We relax on the balcony.

And speech softly stills, letting the view

Fill our senses-

Bliss.

We see, suddenly-

At hand’s throw – a peacock.

Dancing, luminously -for its mate.

Bliss.

We do yoga.

Sun warming -

Breeze cooling -

Waves calling -

Vistas encompassing.

Tangalle -

Of the tantalizing beaches.

How little we knew-

it would be-

A kindred soul.
